Well, that is what the site whiteorchidmelody.com is about. But what you really want to know is: what does “White Orchid Melody” mean?

That little gem came about on a trip to Hong Kong. This was back in 2004, when I still worked for May Co. I was there on one of our long Southeast Asia production trips. Of all the places I was visiting on the trip, I felt fortunate to have my Sunday off in Hong Kong. It was my first time there, so one of my co-workers offered to be my tour guide. We set off for the day, took a ferry across the harbor, took the train up to Victoria Peak, and finally ended up back at the weekend market. A sprawling tourist trap if there ever was one. All sorts of fascinating items to spend money on, and you get to haggle over everything, so you walk away thinking you got a great deal (yeah, right).

Anyway, I found my way to this interesting little booth, shall we call it, where they had all sorts of carved stone. The artisan was making stamps. Well, what a wonderfully unique souvenir; I, of course, had to have one. So, I put in my order for my name to be carved in Chinese on the end of a 1″ diameter cylinder. We continued our shopping, had lunch, and then went back to pick up our stamps. When he gave us the stamps, he also translated for us and the characters of mine supposedly mean “white - orchid - melody.” I have always thought it an interesting combination of words, so was delighted when the idea occurred to me to use it as a domain name. So, that’s the story behind White Orchid Melody.
